Tibo Dennistoun

Hello and welcome to the final 'Coffice' Review! Today, I'm reviewing Tibo, a contemporary style coffee shop/cafe based on Duke Street in Dennistoun, just a 10-15 minute walk from the university and city centre.  I was recommended this coffee shop by one of my cousins who praised their great coffee, tasty food and chilled vibe. After my 15 minute walk, I saw a Tibo Takeaway sign on my right hand side with the shutters closed and instantly regretted my decision to walk all this way for a coffee. But before turning back, luckily, I looked up and to my left was the Tibo Bistro, and to my relief it was open! So keep in mind, if you're thinking of visiting, they have a takeaway shop and a sit-in cafe - if one is closed the other might be open. When I was seated I asked to be sat next to a plug for my laptop. There are limited seats with plug sockets nearby, and the ones that did have plug sockets were already taken, so unfortunately I couldn't get sat next to a plug to ...

Wilson St. Pantry Merchant City

Hello and welcome back to the COFFICE Review! Today, we will be reviewing Wilson St. Pantry. Situated in Merchant City, with a contemporary style interior and relaxed atmosphere Wilson St. Pantry offers breakfast, lunch and great coffee!  I was greeted by a friendly waitress, who was happy to find me a table next to a socket so I could charge my laptop while I worked. She told me before I sat down that they could only offer me a 1 hour time slot. This wasn't really ideal for me but I was late (as usual), so I sat down, got set up, connected to the Wi-Fi and decided I'd figure that one out later (or in an hour to be exact). I will start by telling you, the coffee and food was delicious! I had to mute myself and turn my camera off while I scoffed down my mushroom and spinach version of Eggs Benedict. I won't lie, it was amazing. But this review is not just about the food and coffee. I felt a bit awkward and exposed chatting to my laptop while I was sat within a couple of met...

Spitfire Espresso Candleriggs

Hello and welcome to the first COFFICE Review! On Friday I had two online classes and one on-campus tutorial back-to-back. So, I headed into town, and began my search for a suitable coffice!    I made my way along Ingram Street and passed the typical places – Pret, Tinderbox, iCafe - but I was looking for something a bit different.    I felt like I had walked too far. After sleeping in and being up all night with my three-year-old I was in desperate need of a coffee. So, I made a U-turn and that’s when I spotted Spitfire Espresso. On the corner of Ingram Street and Candleriggs with wooden benches sitting outside. It was busy for 9am on a Friday morning so I took this as a good sign and headed in.   Spitfire is a non-traditional espresso bar with a chilled, laid-back atmosphere, 30s style interior and jazzy background music. I sat at the bar stools by the window where I could people watched while I zoned in and out throughout my zoom lectures. Despite still findi...

Welcome to the COFFICE Review

Hello and welcome to the COFFICE Review!  I  am a third-year business student at the University of Strathclyde, and as part of my marketing course, we have been tasked with creating a blog. I have hummed and hawed with different ideas, but I have finally decided to focus this blog on something very relevant and fairly new to a lot of us... Throughout this blog I will be reviewing a number of coffee shops (and/or) cafes around the city centre, deciding whether or not they are suitable and can be used as a remote working area/office – hence the title ‘coffice’ (coffee, office… get it?) Over the past few years, and with a particular shout out to Covid-19, remote working has become more and more popular within the business world, encouraging a demand for remote and co-working spaces across the city centre – which I am looking forward to exploring. In all honesty, working from home was a struggle for myself, as I know it has been for many others – especially in peak lockdown. With ...
